Review - The Hive Party Hostel
The Hive is one of the many hostels in Budapest known as a "party hostel." Basically, this just means they encourage drinking, dancing, and debauchery. And in the LIT city of Budapest, this is exactly the type of place you need to stay.
We found the hostel easily - it was about a 15 minute walk from the main train station. It's located in the middle of a bustling neighborhood filled with delicious restaurants and fun bars. We were both suprised to see how hipster Budapest was and this hostel was right in the center of one of the hippest neighborhoods.
The hostel staff was so welcoming and friendly! We had taken an overnight train from Florence and were unbelievably tired and disheveled. They got us checked in quickly and easily and even showed us to our room.
The hostel is set up in a giant square with an open courtyard/bar in the center. On nice nights it can get a bit loud because of this, but it is a party hostel so you really should be down there drinking anyway. The drinks are super cheap and the service is quick. In one corner, there is a huge, fully stocked kitchen that we utilized a few times.
We stayed in a six person, all female dorm. It was kind of small, but we had a huuge ensuite bathroom and a fantastic shower that we were both excited about after a few weeks on the road. The beds were pretty comfortable which is a neccessity when you are drunk/hungover so mcuh.
There was also a huge common room with lots of couches, a tv, and some computers. Every night the hostel coordinated with bar crawls and different events and had the staff wait in the common area to bring you to the event. We pregamed in the common area a few times before going out and the staff at the front desk was always so relaxed and fun! We would absolutely love to stay here again if we are ever back in Budapest!
We were too much of a mess to take any pictures for you but check out their website here.
